What a single-rider quad is
A quad, or ATV, is a four-wheeled machine you sit astride and steer with handlebars, like a sturdy motorbike with an extra pair of wheels. A single-rider quad is built for one person: the seat, controls and balance are designed around the driver alone. That makes it the easiest kind of ATV to learn on, because you can feel exactly how it responds when you lean, brake or turn.
We'll confirm the exact model, engine size and machine you'll ride when you request a booking.
Why couples often choose two quads
If you're riding as a pair, renting two single-rider quads means you each get to drive. That's half the fun: you'll trade the lead, wave each other over for photos, and compare notes over dinner about who handled the sandy bits better. Riding your own machine also tends to build confidence faster, since you're making every decision yourself.

First time on an ATV?
Plenty of our riders have never driven a quad before, and that's completely fine. Ask about a ride briefing when you book. A good one covers:
- Starting and stopping, the throttle and both brakes
- Shifting your weight on turns and gentle slopes
- How fast to go on loose gravel and sand
- Hand signals for riding together
- What to do if you stall or get stuck
After that, we'll point you toward an easy route. Our beginner routes page describes the kind of terrain to expect near town.

Turn it into a date
An ATV ride pairs beautifully with an evening on the river. Ride in the cooler morning, rest up, then walk the riverwalk at sunset. Our guide to things to do in Laughlin for couples has more ideas for the rest of your day.
Riding together on two quads
A few simple habits make riding as a pair easy. Agree on who leads before you set off, and swap at the first photo stop so you both get a turn up front. Keep enough distance between machines that the rider behind isn't eating dust, roughly a few lengths on dry ground. Settle on simple hand signals for "slow down," "stop" and "look over there." And if one of you is more nervous, let that person set the pace. A relaxed ride is a better date than a fast one.
What to wear
- Closed-toe shoes with good grip (no sandals)
- Long pants and a light long-sleeve layer for sun and dust
- Sunglasses or goggles, and sunscreen
- A bandana or buff for dusty stretches
- Hair tied back if it's long
